One-touch Operations

The FoodSaver 5800 and the FoodSaver 5860 are incredibly easy to use with three buttons for auto bag making; dispense, rewind and seal and cut. For the sealing progress, you can press seal now and the machine will automatically vacuum the bag and seal it so that it’s airtight.

Food Preservation

You can seal all types of food including meat, fish, cheese, fruit and vegetables, soups and stews, pantry goods and delicate food like chips, cookies, and muffins. Bread, for example, will last for up to three years in the freezer compared to ordinary freezing. Fish that wouldn’t have survived a year can be saved for up to 2 years.

One-touch Marinate Mode

Retractable Handheld Sealer

The FoodSaver 5800 and the FoodSaver 5860 both have retractable handheld sealers that can be used for the marinate mode and to seal zipper bags, canisters, and containers.

Built-in Storage

You can store your vacuum rolls inside the FoodSaver 5800 and the FoodSaver 5860. There is also a built-in cutter that allows you to cut just the right about of roll you need.

Patented Drip-Tray

When sealing liquids, you may end up spilling tiny amounts. These drops can be caught in the removable drip tray, so vacuum sealing remains clean and tidy. The trays can go in the dishwasher for easy cleanup.

Indicator Lights

There are four indicator lights on the FoodSaver 5800 and the FoodSaver 5860. These lights will let you know if there are any issues with the machines and exactly where to find them. The lights indicate when you need to close the lid or the drawer, when to empty the drip tray, and when to check the vacuum roll.

PulseVac

Some of the FoodSaver vacuum sealers come with PulseVac, which allows you to start and stop the vacuum to protect more delicate foods. The FoodSaver 5800 and the FoodSaver 5860 don’t have PulseVac, but you can manually stop the vacuuming.

The FoodSaver 5800 and the FoodSaver 5860 are both silver and black. The retractable handheld sealer is built into the left-hand side and the control panel is to the right. The design is upright, which leaves you more space on the countertops. They are 8 x 6.25 x 18 inches and weigh 15.2 lbs.

What’s Included

Quite often, the difference between two FoodSaver automatic vacuum sealers is the starter kit that comes with them. But not in this case. Warranty

There is an impressive 5-year limited warranty with the FoodSaver 5800 and the FoodSaver 5860.

There is only one difference to consider and it certainly makes the purchase choice much easier.

Vacuum sealers have a big price range. Most of the FoodSaver vacuum sealers are between $180 and $300.

Surprisingly, this model is around $70 more expensive than the FoodSaver 5860, and one of the more expensive FoodSaver vacuum sealers we have seen.

This sits at the higher end of the price range, but it does come with a very complete starter kit and the 5-year limited warranty is generous.
