The Final Verdict

The FoodSaver FM5460 and the FoodSaver FM5480 are both excellent quality machines that provide a very strong seal on the bags. It is recommended that you use FoodSaver bags and we did notice that the results were better when we did. We felt that food was much fresher than other methods of storage and all the food we tested lasted for much longer.In terms of use, we liked how both the vacuum sealers had the roll storage and cutter. It helped with storage and as it was easier to use, we noticed that we would use it more often. The handheld vacuum was very useful and also had vacuumed bags very efficiently.

The actual machines are identical, so it is very difficult to choose between the FoodSaver FM5460 and the FoodSaver FM5480 based on this. Even the pros and cons applied to both of the vacuum sealers. For this reason, today’s decision came down to what was included and the value for money.

The FoodSaver FM5480 came with a higher number of bags but the FoodSaver FM5460 came with a greater range of bags and two rolls. They both came with a bottle stopper. The FM5480 came with a container, which you can buy anywhere and probably already have plenty. The FoodSaver FM5460 came with a jar sealer, which we loved and allowed us to use the machine for more things. This, added to the slightly lower price, made the FoodSaver FM5460 today’s overall winner.
