It’s another one of these products where we noticed that negative comments are often because they haven’t followed the instructions properly. For example, you do need to wash the water tank before use, and the parts are not dishwasher safe, and it’s no great surprise that you shouldn’t use bleach on either the Hamilton Beach 48464 or the Hamilton Beach 48465.

There were certain features that we absolutely loved about both of the Hamilton coffee makers. The fact that you no longer have to use a carafe is brilliant and safer. There are no hot plates to worry about or pots that break. We also felt that they do keep the coffee hot for the right amount of time and it still tasted as if you had just brewed it.

The Hamilton Beach 48464 and the Hamilton Beach 48465 were easy to set up and to keep clean. As long as you follow the instructions for your first brew (and not just wing it), you will have no problems with the straightforward, intuitive controls.

Today’s overall winner was the Hamilton Beach 48465. There is only around $15 difference in price, and we felt that the iced coffee function alone was worth it. We also preferred the design of this coffee maker. Having that little extra weight made it feel safer while sat on our countertops and less likely to be accidentally knocked over.
