Display Size and Resolution

Both VANKYO MatrixPad S30 and Amazon Fire HD 10 feature a gigantic 10.1” IPS displays. The picture quality produced by their 1920 x 1200 pixels resolution screens is sharp and vibrant due to their reasonable 224 PPI pixel density and IPS displays. Additionally, the colors produced are still vivid even when viewed from either side of the tablets. With their screens having 1920 x 1200 pixels resolution, you can fully enjoy 1080p full HD videos from Netflix or YouTube.

Best Use Case

You will be very pleased that both can do light to medium gaming. Both of these tablets can run modern 3D games such as Call of Duty Mobile and PUBG just fine at the lowest graphical settings.

Multimedia consumption is another category that both MatrixPad S30 and Fire HD 10 shine in. Enjoy watching movies or TV series through Netflix, HBO Now, or Amazon Prime Video using their wide 1080p full HD screens. Jam to funky music using Spotify with their dual stereo speakers.

However, do not expect to use these tablets for photo or video editing using Adobe’s mobile editing apps. Both the MatrixPad S30 and Fire HD 10 struggle in that department. You should manage your expectations because both tablets are cheap.

Price

As mentioned earlier, both VANKYO MatrixPad S30 and Amazon Fire HD 10 tablets are cheap and affordable. You can get both through Amazon around the same price. Note that the prices of these tablets vary. Around this price range, both tablets have an unbeatable value.

VANKYO MatrixPad S30 vs Amazon Fire HD 10 – Differences

Material and Build

The material and build of a tablet signify how long it will last you. Particularly when given to children, the sturdiness of a tablet is paramount. Thus, tablets should survive the usual bumps and drops.

VANKYO MatrixPad S30

The MatrixPad S30 tablet has a screen covered in glass and a unibody design made out of aluminum. It is rare in this price range for a tablet to have a metal unibody design. However, VANKYO is kind enough to construct the MatrixPad S30 using aluminum making it sturdy and hefty. This aluminum unibody construction gives the MatrixPad S30 a more premium feel to the touch.

This tablet may survive the usual bumps and bruises, but the usual drop is another case entirely. The glass screen does not have a protection rating, so it may not survive the usual drops. That is why it is advisable to put an additional glass screen protector which can be bought cheaply.

If you want full protection, VANKYO is also selling a folio case designed specifically for the MatrixPad S30. The VANKYO MatrixPad is available only in a silver variant.

Amazon Fire HD 10

Amazon’s Fire HD 10 also has a glass-covered screen in front. Unlike the MatrixPad S30, the Fire HD 10 has plastic construction. This is exactly why the Fire HD 10 feels cheap when held. Additionally, some people who bought this device said that the plastic back sometimes creaks when moved around.

Similar to the MatrixPad S30, the glass screen of the Fire HD 10 also does not have a protection rating. Likewise, it is advisable to use glass screen protectors to avoid getting the screen cracked when dropped.

Amazon is also selling separately a folio case for added protection. If you are getting the Amazon Fire HD 10 for your kids, you could get a more rugged kids’ case that is also available on Amazon. The Fire HD 10 is available in 4 color variants: black, plum, twilight blue, and white.

Performance

The performance of a smartphone or tablet depends on its components inside. The processor, GPU, and RAM capacity are usually held accountable for the expected performance.

VANKYO MatrixPad S30

Although both the MatrixPad S30 and Fire HD 10 have octa-core processors, both are made by different processor manufacturers. The MatrixPad S30’s processor comes from Unisoc – the Unisoc SC9863A. It has a performance cluster that runs at 1.6GHz and an efficiency cluster that runs at 1.2GHz. Due to this lower clock speed, the Unisoc SC9863A is expected to run worse than its competition.

This Unisoc processor is paired with PowerVR GE8322 GPU which is more than sufficient to run graphically intensive games at the lowest settings. But comparing it to the GPU that the Fire HD 10 has, it is around 30-40 percent slower.

The only redeeming quality that the MatrixPad S30 possesses is its higher RAM capacity of 3gb. Therefore, you can multitask better on the S30 than the Fire HD 10.

Amazon Fire HD 10

The Amazon Fire HD 10 is equipped with MediaTek MT8183 which is also an octa-core processor. This octa-core processor is comprised of four powerful Cortex-A73 cores and four efficient Cortex-A53 cores. Both core clusters run at a higher clock speed of 2.0GHz. Therefore, the CPU performance of the Fire HD 10 is better than the MatrixPad S30.

The MediaTek octa-core processor comes with the ARM Mali-G72 MP3 GPU. As mentioned above, this GPU from ARM performs better so you can expect better FPS on graphically intensive games.

Amazon Fire HD 10 has a lacking 2gb of RAM. Considering that most smartphones today (even lower-end ones) have more than 4gb of RAM, the 2gb of RAM in the Fire HD 10 will not do you any favor. This causes bottlenecks even if the Fire HD 10 has a better processor and GPU. Multitasking is nearly impossible due to this. Therefore, the VANKYO MatrixPad S30 beats the Fire HD 10.

Storage Capacity and Expandability

If you are looking at these tablets for multimedia and light gaming, internal storage and expandability is another important category to take a look at. The total storage capacity will dictate how many apps and movies you can download and store in these tablets.

VANKYO MatrixPad S30

MatrixPad S30 only comes with a 32gb variant. Honestly, this will be more than enough if you are looking to give it to your kids. If 32gb of internal storage is not enough for your needs, you can easily expand its capacity using the TF card slot in the MatrixPad S30. You can use a MicroSD card up to 128gb in size.

Amazon Fire HD 10

Unlike the MatrixPad S30, the Fire HD 10 comes in two variants. You can either save money to get a 32gb variant or spend more to get a 64gb variant. To tell you, frankly, getting a MicroSD card to expand the storage is cheaper than getting the 64gb variant. You can easily get a decent 256gb MicroSD card with their price difference. The Fire HD 10 can support up to 512gb MicroSD card. With all of these said, the Amazon Fire HD 10 is the winner in this category.

Installed OS

The operating system that a tablet comes in with dictates the overall user experience. You will have a better user experience using the newest and latest version of Android.

VANKYO MatrixPad S30

Out of the box, the VANKYO MatrixPad S30 comes with an Android OS. It has the stock version of Android 9.0 Pie which can give you fantastic user experience. With Android 9.0, battery life is longer due to the added battery optimizations. You will feel more secure as well because it has the latest security patches and security features directly from Google.

Amazon Fire HD 10

In contrast, the Amazon Fire HD 10 comes with FireOS which is Amazon’s operating system. FireOS is based on Android 9.0 Pie but there are tweaks that Amazon made. The experience can be quite similar on both devices. However, MatrixPad S30’s stock version looks cleaner overall.

Google Play Store vs Amazon Appstore

Unneeded apps that come pre-installed are called bloatware. Nowadays, some Android devices are still plagued with this.

VANKYO MatrixPad S30

Being an Android tablet, the MatrixPad S30 comes with Google Play Store out of the box. You can discover millions of apps and games through the Play Store. The Google Play Store has more apps and games available compared with the Amazon Appstore. Additionally, bloatware is nearly non-existent in the MatrixPad. Thus, you can install more apps and games or download more movies.

Amazon Fire HD 10

Unfortunately, the Fire HD 10 does not come with the Google Play Store. Instead, you are forced to use Amazon’s Appstore which has fewer apps than the competitor. To add insult to injury, the Fire HD 10 is filled with the Amazon bloatware. Apps for Amazon’s services are already pre-installed out of the box. If you are already a consumer of Amazon’s services, this is not a problem. However, if you are not, you will have a hard time because you cannot uninstall these apps.

Another huge problem with Amazon’s software is the advertisements that always welcome you on the lock screen. Amazon has been placing ads for some time now to subsidize the price of their tablets. If you do not want these advertisements always bothering you, you are obliged to pay another $15 to get rid of them. With all that said, the VANKYO MatrixPad S30 is the winner.

Google Assistant vs Alexa

Smart virtual assistants have existed for years now. We use them via voice recognition to ask questions, to add items to our shopping cart, to open or close the lights, and sometimes to tell us a joke. The most popular assistants include Google Assistant, Alexa, Siri, and Cortana. In this section, we will be comparing Google Assistant and Alexa.

VANKYO MatrixPad S30

Google Assistant is the newest digital assistant. However, due to its incredibly fast advancements, it set the gold standard for smart virtual assistants. You can ask Google Assistant plenty of things such as setting an alarm, reminding you for an event, playing music, telling a joke, and many more. Fortunately, the MatrixPad S30 can do all of that because it has the Google Assistant baked-in with Android 9.0 Pie.

Amazon Fire HD 10

Alexa is pretty much the same as Google Assistant. One category it shines in, however, is online shopping. You can ask Alexa to add items to your Amazon cart. Alexa also supports more music streaming services than the Google counterpart. You can enjoy these features using the Amazon Fire HD 10. Since Alexa can do more things than the Google Assistant, the Fire HD 10 wins in this category.

The Winner Is- Amazon Fire HD 10

Front and Rear Camera

You should curb your expectations when it comes to the picture and video quality that these cheap tablets can produce. At this price point, we expect horrible quality. One of these tablets has worse camera quality than the other.

VANKYO MatrixPad S30

The VANKYO MatrixPad S30 has a modest 13MP rear-facing camera with flash. With great lighting, especially when used outdoors on a bright sunny day, this 13MP shooter can capture usable photos for Instagram. It will take reasonably detailed photos albeit a little washed out. Shooting in low light is another case entirely. Low-light photos come out with a lot of noise and grains.

On the front of the device, it has a single 8MP camera for selfies. The quality output is average at best. However, it will be more than enough for video calling and video conference. The camera system in the MatrixPad S30 is better than its competition. However, one complaint I heard from other customers is it has a shutter lag. It means that there is a noticeable amount of delay between the instant you pressed the shutter and the point when the camera took the photo. Other than that, it stumps the camera system of the Amazon Fire HD 10.

Amazon Fire HD 10

Looking at the camera specification of the Amazon Fire HD 10, it is indeed way worse than that of the MatrixPad S30. Both the front and rear cameras can take 2MP only. Thus, making its output nearly useless. The MatrixPad S30 is indeed a no-brainer in this category.

The Winner Is- VANKYO MatrixPad S30

Fast Charging

Both the MatrixPad S30 and the Fire HD 10 have large batteries. Thus, having a fast charging feature helps in cutting the time to take the battery to a full charge.

VANKYO MatrixPad S30

Unfortunately, the MatrixPad S30 does not have fast charging capabilities. Thus, it will take you a very long time to charge this device fully. It is estimated to take more than 4 hours for a full charge.

Amazon Fire HD 10

In contrast, the Amazon Fire HD 10 can fast charge. Out of the box, the power adapter is a 9W charger. Using this adapter, you can charge the larger 6300mAh battery in less than 4 hours. It also supports a 15W charger. If a 15W is rather used, this will cut your charging time to around 3 hours. Our winner is the Amazon Fire HD 10.

The Winner Is- Amazon Fire HD 10

Other Features

Features such as additional sensors, the latest Bluetooth, etc. can make these tablets the whole package. Both tablets feature Wi-Fi that supports wireless AC. Therefore, you can connect to the faster 5GHz Wi-Fi connection. Read the following to learn more about other features.

VANKYO MatrixPad S30

Aside from having a 5Ghz-capable Wi-Fi, the MatrixPad S30 has the latest Bluetooth 5.0. Being the latest and greatest, it can transfer data twice as fast as the older generation. Also, the maximum connection range is farther. Additionally, Bluetooth 5.0 is also more energy-efficient.

The MatrixPad S30 also has GPS built-in. GPS is important for map directions and location services. You can get an Uber or Grab more easily due to the addition of GPS. If you want to listen to the radio, you can do so because it also has an FM Radio on-board.

Amazon Fire HD 10

The Amazon Fire HD 10 has the older Bluetooth 4.2. Although it is not as great as Bluetooth 5.0, you can still connect devices such as speakers, gamepads, headphones, etc.

It also lacks GPS and FM Radio from the get-go. Thus, you cannot fully utilize apps that use GPS for location services.

However, there is one thing the Fire HD 10 has that the MatrixPad 10 has not. It has an ambient light sensor. The ambient light sensor can automatically change the brightness of your screen depending on the light around you.

The Winner Is- VANKYO MatrixPad S30

The Final Verdict

The VANKYO MatrixPad S30 won 6 categories out of 9. Therefore, it is a better budget 10.1” tablet overall. It has a better build, clearer camera, and has the Google Play Store. The Amazon Fire HD 10 is no slouch either. However, the negatives of the Fire HD 10 outweigh its positives. That is exactly why the VANKYO MatrixPad S30 is the winner of this comparison.
